Cassie Logan, young and maybe somewhat naive learns in an exceptionally short time that hate and animosity can spread like a demon just because of the color of someone's skin. Early 1900's in Mississippi, the Logan family has an uncommon advantage of being one of the few black families to own their land and not be at the mercy of white land owners. A piece of their own America to raise crops on, the same land that their ancestors were once slaved to.
